  • What exactly is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care: Phase 1: Relief Care If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. Phase 3: Wellness Care Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future.
  • What is subluxation?
To put it simply, a subluxation occurs when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of position, creating pressure on or irritating spinal nerves. Spinal nerves come out from between each of the bones in your spine. Because of this pressure or irritation on the nerves, it then causes those nerves to malfunction and interfere with the signals traveling over those nerves. Subluxation may lead to numbness, tingling, pain, burning in that area of the body, and also can affect everyday life. Chiropractors have known about the dangers of subluxations for over 100 years. Today, more scientific evidence is showing the dangers of subluxations and the health benefits of correcting them. To be truly healthy, it is vitally important that your nervous system be functioning free of interference from subluxations. Chiropractors are the ONLY health professionals trained in the detection, location, and correction of the subluxation. Our goal is to allow your body to return to the highest level of health possible by correcting subluxation.
  • Are there risks associated with chiropractic?
Chiropractic adjustments are generally safe. There is a small risk of minor side effects, such as soreness or discomfort, but these usually go away quickly. The chances are low if you engage with a licensed and experienced chiropractor.
  • How can chiropractic adjustments help with pain?
Chiropractic adjustments are often used to treat pain. Back pain is a common problem, and various things can cause it. For example, poor posture, muscle tension, and joint dysfunction can all lead to back pain. Chiropractic adjustments can help improve these problems and relieve pain. In addition, chiropractic care is used as a comprehensive plan for back pain. This plan means chiropractic adjustments and other methods, such as nutrition and massage.
  • How should I prepare?
If you think chiropractic adjustments could help with your pain, the first step is to schedule an appointment. At Chiropractic Today, we provide comprehensive care for pain. This care means we will work with you to create a custom plan that may include chiropractic adjustments and other methods. During your initial appointment, tell your chiropractor about any lasting conditions and medications you are taking. You should also wear loose, comfortable clothing.
  • What should I expect?
Your chiropractor will gently manipulate the spine and joints. You may feel a popping or cracking sound during the adjustment. After the adjustment, you may feel relief from pain right away. However, it is common to take a few visits before seeing the full benefits.
